EE&G was retained to respond to a fire recovery effort at the Lipscomb Community Center and Club Esteem. This center is used as an educational facility as well as a community center. The fire engulfed the structure’s interior, deteriorated block walls, structural trusswork, mechanical system, electrical system, plumbing system, kitchen hood and most every architectural finish associated with the interior and exterior of the structure.
The fire department’s efforts to save the structure also resulted in traditional water damage. As a result, significant structural components had to be demolished including walls and roofs inclusive of all finishes therein. EE&G salvaged selective contents along with some finishes and structural systems. This included a significant cleaning effort and a smoke abatement effort using the Odorox® system.
A set of permit plans were prepared for complete Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection/Fire Sprinkler, Controls, Data, and Security. This design work required a complete code upgrade and installation of a new sprinkler system, Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and peripherals. These plans were submitted and the project was engaged on a fast track basis to support the needs of the client. EE&G performed the block demolition and restoration and then furnished and installed the engineered trusswork. Immediately thereafter, EE&G began the concurrent mechanical, electrical, plumbing, data/controls, fire protection and managed the work through completion.
